NVIDIA announces DLSS 4.5

Nvidia has launched DLSS 4.5, using a second generation transformer to promise smooth 4K performance at 250+ FPS.
I was slightly nervous that Nvidia was bringing AI, data center and robotics news to CES 2026, so consider this a huge sigh of relief to see Team Green bring DLSS 4.5 — targeting 4K path-traced gaming at a whopping 240 FPS.
While the AI model improvements to DLSS 4.5 will benefit all RTX owners today, Nvidia is also launching a new 6x Multi Frame Generation mode for RTX 50-series owners in spring. Targeted at 240Hz 4K gaming, the 6x mode will generate five additional fake frames for every single rendered one, instead of the maximum of three additional in DLSS 4.
To access DLSS 4.5 today, users can join the Nvidia app 11.0.6 beta and install the new GeForce Game Ready Driver, News.Az reports, citing foreign
NVIDIA's new DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution is available now in over 250 games and apps via the NVIDIA App, improving image fidelity in the biggest games.
Nvidia said the new transformer model has five times the compute behind it compared to the original transformer model introduced in 2025. DLSS was already good enough; it was hard to spot a difference between native and non-native images,
It’s also worth noting that Dynamic Multi Frame Generation will be exclusive to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs. Meanwhile, the improved Super Resolution Transformer will be available for all RTX cards. The new feature is expected to launch in spring 2026.
With 6X Dynamic Multi-Frame Gen tech and a second-gen Transformer training model, DLSS 4.5 brings a big boost in image quality and speed to RTX 50 GPUs.
